Your writing hand

I'm going through a flare and its affecting my legs. Today a thought struck me.

I'm wondering how people manage to do some important written work, say signing something like important papers, cheques, etc if their writing hand were to get severely affected.

This can be a big issue. I've had a couple of times when I've taken my mortgage check to the bank and asked the teller to fill it out, then I signed as best I could. That was when tremors were particularly bad. Mostly I do electronic banking so I don't have to sign anything. Can be embarrassing when sending greeting cards, etc. My writing has really deteriorated.

Many years ago I broke my left wrist badly. (Have broken a lot of bones!) Since I'm left handed that put me in a real bind. When I was just leaving the place where the bones were set, big heavy cast on hand, wrist and arm, they kept insisting I sign all kinds of papers. What's wrong with this picture? Well, they got a big squiggle and that's all.

Hi Squinn,

We've not met - so hello, and welcome.
Bigsis has an excellent tip here - I find many things they use for the paralyzed should definitely be used by those with MS limitations.

I only had one time where I couldn't write.

How long have you been dx'd? If you've already shared your story, sorry I missed it.

For some people like that they make stamps for the person to use. I have seen a man that was quadriplegic use one.
