ankle clonus

At My last Doc appointment I was told that I had unilateral Ankle Clonus. Could this be a sign of MS? My Brain MRI and Cervical MRI were clear. This week I had to go for a Thoracic and Lumbar both with contrast. What is he looking for. Even with two clear MRI's could I have MS? This is driving me nuts!

Please start having pt for them spasms, spasms that never stop will build up your muscle, it can cause spasticity, and in my case can turn into a contracture.  My pt didn't work but its best to start early.  It is not something to mess around with.  Please keep me posted.

Thank you for your answer! Alnog with the clonus I have had spasms or something that feels like spasms in the back of my legs that is almost non stop. My legs are also more defined as far as muscle tone. I feel a tingling sensation in my tongue also. This has been going on for about 2 1/2 months now. I thought MS comes and goes? My symptoms seem to be persistant. What is a relapse? If you have MS do you have symptoms pretty much every day?

Take care

Hi honey...the answer to your second question is Yes.  People have been diagnosed with a clear MRI and yet they have banding in their spinal fluid as discovered by a Lumbar Puncture.

I believe that he is still looking for MS but I believe that he will want to do an LP for further information.  A person can be diagnosed with MS with no Lesions showing on an MRI for a long time.  Remember, lesions are not related to symptoms.  Lesions could show on your spine that may be MS related so I would Imagine that is why he has requested this MRI.

Please let us know what your results are...your information may also help others on the forum and we would like you to know that we are here for you should you want to rant, rave, cry or laugh, we are here 24/7.

Lots of Hugs,

To answer the first question YES.I went back and found the web site that I learned this from so you can look it up if you want. It states that m.s. should be considered, so my guess he is still looking for m.s.
