Cold Feet

Hi all... Hope you are all feeling well...

Haven't been here in awhile... Still in limbo land:/ Having a new head and c-spine MRI on the 7th of April finally ordered MS Protocol by my PCP as she noticed significant "focal weakness" and hyperreflexia on my last exam and I am now having a lot of unexplained pain in my shoulders with some tremors... Something I wasn't having before...

She is "very concerned" for me.... Finally.... We shall see! But in the meantime I have a question... Have any of you had this issue?? I suffer from "cold feet" all the time now... Very hard to get them/keep them warm. But I CANNOT walk barefoot on the bare surface floor anymore... It actually HURTS!!! The cold surface actually almost BURNS my feet..??? Anyone have this?

Ok well any replies would be great thanks in advance for your help:) Take care!!!

Boy do I hear you (re: throwing in the towel).  I think I've said that a dozen times since last week.

In limbo as well, and I have the same issue, however it's my right side (weak side).  My right hand only, and occasionally same side leg and foot.  It's very strange.

We have one of those handy dandy "no touch" thermometers for our littles -- there can be a 4-5 degree C. difference between my two hands.

Just a heads up:  even if the MRI comes back saying only ms, you've met the McDonald Criteria, etc. -- it still might be a long haul as your ms specialist has to agree.  Mine doesn't.  Only an ms specialist (at least around here) can make a diagnosis.  Ignore "diagnoses" from any other medical practitioner (gp/pcp, ER doctors, etc.)

If you are interested, there is a link to my blog in my most recent journal article, under my profile.  I have targeted it mostly to those of us in neurological limbo.

I'm so sorry you are in limbo ... you are in good company though :).  I hope evaluations go smoothly for you!

I've been in limbo since last May, everything started when I went to stand from a sitting position and completely collapsed.   It's been 11 months of symptoms and every test imaginable...I just wrote it all up in my "notes" if you want to take a look at my profile.  Now that I've actually written it all down, it is quite alarming to me how much has gone wrong with my body!  I haven't gotten any better, I just seem to be getting worse...especially my legs.

Thanks for responding:)

My left side is also my more symptomatic side although my right side is starting to become affected as well....

Yes it sure is a VERY uncomfortable feeling to say the least... I used to LOVE to be barefooted.... Now I NEVER EVER go without socks.... We shall see what summer brings....

How long have you been in limbo land? Have you had all the tests? What are your symptoms if you don't mind me asking? Thanks again for responding... Feeling alone....

Hello, I'm in limbo too..glad that you have an appt soon to help you along in your diagnosis, hopeful it yields some helpful information.

I can empathize with having cold feet, I too struggle with keeping mine warm...sometimes it is more my left foot than my right (which is my symptomatic side).  What an awful sounding sensation of burning when walking barefoot!  Yikes!  I actually have a hard time walking without shoes on...the only time I go barefoot is getting in and out of the shower.  For some reason I need the extra support/sensation of firmness under my feet...probably has something to do with  propioception.

Wishing you well!
Karen
