Relapse or just sick

Here we go again.  I had a feaver for no apparent reason.  Went to the NP at my inturnest office.  They tested my urine and treated me for a sinus infection. (10 days 500mg Levaquin).  I took the last dose 8 days ago.  sinus still not completely unclogged.  MS symptoms showed up with the feaver.  Feaver has been gone for days, but my spine (lower back, neck +) and head still hurt as if I had a feaver, but I don't.

I don't know what to do.  Should I treat the sinuses again, or call the neuro? Or wait and see?

Still having the fever problem? I'd find the doc that will treat the fever because it aggravates the MS and can cause an exacerbation. I don't have MS but asked my doc if we could treat illness when it comes up because it triggers the neuro issues and magnifies them. He didn't have any problem with that. He would rather do that than not.

I agree with jumpinjiminy, you need to get the fever resolved.   There must be an infection still, somewhere.  The neurological symptoms are likely due to the infection- heat of any kind, internal or external can cause problems.  Pseudo-exacerbations can continue until the infection/fever are gone.  (Sorry).

My doctor told me that severe illness can sometimes bring on a relapse, so if you are having new symptoms, I would call their office.  If you think this is more serious than than a heat related increase in symptoms- you should call your neuro.

Best of luck to you.

Fever could be from a lot of things, but is not related to MS, although it can worsen it. I've had quite a stretch in limbo because my neuro sx came on while I was running a chronic fever off and on. They sent me to neuros, infectious disease docs, rheumatologists, endocrinologists, and now the latest is a hematologist.

Obviously, nobody found the cause for this fever, then they went away (after going on prednisone for 4 months and having my gallbladder out). They found thyroid antibodies, some CNS and peripheral nerve damage, chronic gallbladder inflammation, and inflammation in a couple of other organs. I'm a walking ball of inflammation, but it never shows up in my bloodwork. It's a real conundrum.

Everytime my temp ticks up a degree or so, I start having more neuro symptoms. I call it a flareup, because to me, that's what it is and it can show up with any number of things - headaches, nausea, fatigue, brain fog, or even extra energy.

Definitely call your doc back and let them try to figure out where this fever is coming from. It could be your infection coming back or any number of other things that need attention. Also note if you're having any other symptoms, urinary, night sweats, blurred vision, cough, whatever. They need to know what's going on to keep you healthy.
