I'm of a different view than Jifr. There are no accidents. OK maybe the rare one, but when reliable birth control methods are used correctly, each and every time, there shouldnt be any accidents. Because the DMDs aren't tested on pregnant subjects, their effect on a fetus isn't known. I would be extra careful not to become pregnant while on a DMD, and if you are planning a family, then also for a while after stopping birth control, as per above.

"10. What should I know about pregnancy and GILENYA?
If you are pregnant, or thinking about becoming pregnant, you should talk to your doctor before taking GILENYA. At this time, there are no adequate and well-controlled studies of GILENYA in pregnant women. GILENYA may harm an unborn baby. If you become pregnant while taking GILENYA, or within 2 months of stopping GILENYA treatment, call your doctor right away.
You and your doctor should decide what is best for you and your baby. You may decide to stop GILENYA It is important to use effective birth control throughout GILENYA treatment and for at least 2 months after you stop taking GILENYA Even if you stop, GILENYA will stay in your blood for approximately 2 months. Your doctor may talk with you about enrolling in the GILENYA
Pregnancy Registry
It is not known if GILENYA passes into your breast milk. You and your doctor should decide if you take GILENYA or breastfeed. You should not do both."
You can obtain the Gilanya brochures, watch informational videos, hot line contact numbers etc directly from Gilenya or from there webpage:

Yes I am a diagnosed ms sufferer, when I say accidents. .I mean any unplanned pregnancies, ib just started on gil and our plan was to start a family, its only when I started on the drug I read that pregnancy should be avoided
Thank you for replying
lol - accidents always happen. If you read the information on drug, you will see info on teratogenic findings from studies. Usually they identify issues in animal studies. If you do become preggers - they like to add you to a national registry.
well if there were anyone taking it and they found out they were pregnant, I would hope they would call their doctors and ask if they could come off of it!
I did not mean this to sound harsh, just informative as your question at the end was a little vague, not sure if you meant a problem developing with the drug or an unplanned pregnancy. I'd be very worried about the cardiac side effects of this drug. I chose not to be on it for that reason and no, don't plan on any babies.
Are you among our diagnosed MS members or just stopping by for a visit?
