I realize how sad this is for you. Both not being able to do something and not being able to do something with your family.
My husband and I were big cyclist. When I could not ride with him I used to pick him up or bring him replacement bikes if he was several hundred miles out and had trouble. Now I can't do that either. He still is riding over 5,000 miles a year.
I gave my Specialized Allez to my brother who is getting too old for Marathoning and sold my other two. With my money I bought riding apparel.
It has been a year since I took up dressage. I did not realize it but riding is the best exercise for MS if you can do it. It works core and balance. It also helps cognitive since you have to learn to do several new things at once. My teacher is certified with handicap. The only adjustments we have had to make is helping me mount which is easier now and shorter lessons for fatigue. It was harder at first with muscle spasms. Now it is easier and I am more flexible. I still have pain but I have pain doing everything these days.
It is 15 minutes out.

I used to be able to ride a bike with no problem. I hate this. I thought when all of the kids were in school full time I would be able to do a few things I enjoy.
I do love being in a pool but have none avalible. The closest one is 30minutes away.

I wanted to add. One of my sons bolted high top sneakers onto the pedals. It keeps my right foot from falling off constantly. Of course, I picked a colorful pair...lol
I love my stationary recumbent bike. I am hoping to get one for the road this summer or early fall.....
I ride the stationary bike at the gym. I have to use a recumbent bike, not an upright one. I may investigate a recumbent road bike. Less distance to fall given my balance.
