hearing things?

Hi all.  I'm wondering if anyone else experiences this:  sometimes when I have what I call a Big Jerk in my mid back I hear a loud static metallic screech briefly and simultaneously to the jerk.  It seems to be in the back of my head and yet somehow is a sound, not a pain or sensation.  A very startling way to awaken!  Is this a common phenomenon?
(The Big Jerks are always at night, and differ from the much milder and more constant Little Jerks, which never have a sound associated and happen in all parts of my body)
also, sorry that I never properly introduced myself...  I'm in limbo, have had a range of neuro symptoms for about a year, and am just beginning the medical rounds.  I've had an MRI which showed no lesions.  I'm next seeing an internal medicine specialist and then a neuro (both this fall).
Thanks for any input, very glad you're all here to ask those crazy-sounding questions to.
S.

Hi, I've heard things too  mainly at night when I first go to bed, however I guess I'm lucky it kind of sounds like the TV or radio is on in the other room, sometimes I almost hear a melody, but I turn my head and it disappears so I know it's just in my head.

I also have that loud buzz associated with a hard jerk... I don't know what it is nor does my doctor... As usual he says just another MS thing... I've never been so sick of hearing that in all my life... It doesn't matter what I go to him for he always says that... UGH!!!!

By the way it's nice to meet you... Hopefully you will find some answers soon and please know that we will be here with you through all of it if you need us...

I'll be praying,
Carol

I. too, have tinnitus, but every now and then, I have trouble processing what I'm hearing, and have to ask people to repeat what they've just said to give myself a 2nd chance at understanding what I heard.

Ren, that's interesting about the white noise- I tend to hear music or background conversations (that obviously aren't happening) in the presence of white noise.  Is that weird or what?  I wonder if I should ask my neuro about that?

Hi and a welcome from me as we haven't met. Glad you're here. I have noises in my right ear and they are called tinnitus. I know several people here on the forum have said they have this symptom.

My neuro had no answers on how to treat it except at night have some "white noise" such a fan or other background noise so that the tinnitus is the only thing that I hear.  Be sure and tell your doctors about this symptom.

Hello,
I have similar sensations at night sometime.
It's a huge jolt of electricity and a loud buzz in my head.

Of douse I jump because it is startling.  Happens in bed,
The doctor gave me called neurontin that I take before bed and it has helped the tremors, mycolonic jerks, etc.

Hope that helps and good luck.

Kerri
