New Issue

The past few days now, I've been having this burning sensation around my spine between the shoulder blades, which starts a tensing of the muscles around my ribcage, ending right in the middle of my sternum almost like I've had a heated belt wrapped around my spine, then the pulled tight and wrapped around my ribcage to be pulled tight right in the middle and being pulled tighter and tighter, then I break out in a dripping sweat, and then it gradually fades.  Is there a name for this or what does it sound like to you guys?

Thanks guys,
I'm still not diagnosed with MS, (trying to get a second opinion neuro consult) first neuro, just wants to treat my seizures and has diagnosed me with idiopathic epilepsy (and said he didn't want to order a second MRI, felt there wasn't enough evidence to warrant it even though the radiologist recommended it) and because in the report there was a 6 mm high white signal, this I felt was totally out of line.  So now I'm waiting for an appointment for my second opinion one.

Hi. I agree this sounds like the infamous MS hug. There is lots of info about this on the web, if you'd care to check. People experience it in quite different ways, but it seems to boil down to the same thing.

Not an expert but it sounds like the MS or as the NMMS site refers o the "chest-hug", This were the intercostal muscles between the ribs cause a "hug" sensations they contract and/or spasm.

When occurred , prior to my dx, I used to wrap my chest with an ACE bandage to conuteract the pain and it worked well. My personal MS neurologist doesn't "believe" the pain caused by this sensation whereas my local neuro totally believes in it phenomenon.
