AMO
I work mostly with children however I have years of experience working in an acute care hospital with adults and have a nuero background. I have always had a hard time deciding which population I like the most...when it gets down to it a brain is a brian is brain..... the size of the body changes. I just love people.
I hope you get some answers soon! I will keep you in my thoughts!

hi rebeccah,
thanks for input.
Yeah, there is much more on the internet with children. Nothing talked about here , so was curious how many others haave hypotonia. My movement disorder specialist make note of it on my visits.
It comes from my cerebellllum. Thankfully i am not so much weak . IT gets tough sitting uprright for sure, ii just fall over if i am not holding on.
After manny years my doctors still are scratching their head, my ms neuro last week told me i mmake him feel dumb
My movement disorder doctor isn't suree of my msa-c dx's, and thinks more on the line nowof a SCA,, but would be a gene that has not been identifed to date.
DO you work with children in you r work?
thanks agai nn , amo
In the pediatric world we refer to a child as hypotonic if they have low tone or weakness versus hypertonic/spastic/high tone or rigid. However I am not use to the term being used in the adult neuro world.
Adult world usually weakness, muscle wasting, spastic etc.

thakk you Tammy,
i am thinking now maybe others do not.
The paart of the exam they check is like when they wiggle/shake your arm-wrist-hand.
I am quiet floppy (ok and flabby too ! yicks but guess that part is from age lol)
I just hear how many have spacticity, and no talk of hypotonia.
Maybe Quix used to see floppy infants?
but thanks again. amo
Hi....
I'm sorry that you haven't gotten any answers to your question yet.....To be honest, I don't really know the term "hypotonic".....Maybe someone else on here can help you out soon.
Tammy
