neuro opthamologly appt

Appt went very well. I had a normal eye appt yesterday and he was very concerned with things and said waiting til the end of Feb. was not gonna do. His office manager got me an appt for today. I have a few tests. She said everything looked ok it was not as bad as yesterday. My color test was only 50% in each eye my left eye field of vision was up to 90% after in was only 60% yesterday but they used a differernt type of test with my left eye compared to my right eye.  she said my left eyes retina if she didnt look at my right one looked ok but since she saw my right one said it was blunt compared to my right eye. She is having me get a blood test for Neuromyelitis Optica. She is gonna send me for a VEP once the results come back from the blood test. If all those look normal she is gonna send me to a retna specialist. Alteast she seems more interested in finding out what is going on. I told her my pcp was looking to see if my insurance would pay to have a 3t mri of my spine done and she thought this was a good thing. I hope I get some kind of answer soon. I cant take this no more.

I hope they find something out cause this is driving me insane not knowing what is going on.

Thanks for the update.  Now there's a good doctor.  I like that he didn't make you wait until the end of Feb. I had optic neuritis in Feb 09, & my eye doctor wanted me to get in to see a neuro as soon as possible for treatment, MRIs, etc.  Even with that, I still had to wait 2 months to get in to see the neuro.

Since my leg symptoms started about 3 months before that, they thought that I might have neuromyelitis optica (NMO), too. Especially after finding lesions on my spine after my visit to the neuro. If I remember correctly, I think the NMO test is only accurate 70% of the time.

I hope your insurance approves a 3T MRI. I've been wanting to get one, but I haven't had a doctor, yet, agree to send me for one. There aren't any here in my city, but I could go to Denver for it, if they would let me.

It sounds like you have found yourself a gem of a neuropth. It's good to hear that your eye seems to be improving!

It nice to hear that your doc is being proative. It also sounds she knows what she is dealing with and has set herslef up an excellent protocol. Offering to send you the results instead of you having to ask for them is a rarity with a great many docs.

Please keep us updated with your eye issues and/or any other issues you may have.
