Thanks for explaining that Quix!! :)
My father was forced to retire on disability due to his seizures (he was a Merchant Marine and had an episode out at sea). He did have matastic kidney cancer (he passed at the age of 57), so I am wondering if the seizures, and maybe RLS, were a Sx of that? I'm leaning more toward this. The seizures were a first Sx.
His RLS didn't show until after he was 50, but then again, I'm not sure if it was related to the cancer. He was only Dx for 2 years before he passed. I'm almost 45 (getting up to that age), but do not have RLS at this point, nor does my older sibling.
Just curious about the neurological Sx that sound like seizures ~ could you give me some examples? What type of brain lesions do they cause?
I don't really think that's what's going on in my case. I thought it was an interesting finding.
Thanks again Quix!! Much appreciated! Pat :)
Hi, Some neurologic and migraine sypmtoms sound an awful lot like seizures. So people with those symptoms are likely to get EEG's. Because of all the brain scarring, MSers are more likely to have abnormal EEG's though they do not have a higher incidence of seizures, from what I've read. Their EEG's show areas of slowing rather than hyperirritable areas. It doesn't really add to the diagnosis other than it will sometimes show abnormal activity and indicate there is some CNS dysfunction. this would be very indirect evidence, but could help tip a doctor over toward a diagnosis.
RLS - Restless Limb Syndrome (because it often involves arms - it does in me) both runs in families alone and is found in a higher incidence of people with MS.
I'm not sure that helps. Do you have RLS?
