A bit of history and my questions...

So two years ago I experiences paraesthesia on the right side of my head and face and what I felt were stroke-like symptoms.  I was seen by my general practitioner and had an MRI of my brain.  The results were unimpressive, I was told.  Since then I have had loss of sensation in my right foot, a dead spot above my right knee, abdominal pain that wraps around me (was told that it was probably an ulcer...), restless leg in ONLY my right leg, loss of coordination and poor feedback from my foot, right eye twitching, mood swings (in the last six months...have never had mood swings), scary swallowing issues (especially meat) fatigue and inability to cope in the heat.  I was sent to a neuro, who tested my reflexes and overall strength, put me through an EMG and a lumbar MRI and told me that my symptoms are STRESS.  He REFUSED to do a brain MRI because the one two years ago was unimpressive!  What do I do?  How do I get anyone to listen to me?  I am NOT crazy!

Ditto what Julie said! Drop this neuro ASAP and get one that will LISTEN to you and take your symptoms seriously.

It sounds as if you do have something neurological going on and it needs to be investigated.

Hang in there and be strong. Like Julie said reducing stress is always a good thing this since it tends to make everything worse.

Good luck! Please keep us informed of your progress.

STRESS!!!!  OK, looks like we need to add your neuro to our "weenine roast" next Friday night.

I can understand how stress can make things worse, but cause all these symptoms.  Not likely.  Something is definitely being overlooked and I hope you fire this neuro and go see someone else - ASAP.   Did that neuro want you to go on anti-anxiety meds? Just curious as that is what most lazy neuros recommend.

And, what do they mean your last MRI was "unimpressive"?  What does that mean?  Do you have a copy of that MRI report? If not, I'd try to get your hands on it and a CD of the MRI itself as well.

Don't give in to this stress thing as a diagnosis unless you know in your gut that this is the root of the problem.   But, it never hurts to try to find ways to reduce stress and see if that will help with atleast 10% of your symptoms.

Be strong.
