Itching

I know someone mentioned itching on here awhile ago but I can't remember what people suggested as a remedy.

I have the most hideous itching of my left hand, to the point that I'm going to scratch a hole soon.  I had wondered whether it was a side effect of stopping my Doxepin and Carbamazepine now that I'm transitioning onto Gabapentin but I see I've virtually scratched a line across my palm between my third and fourth fingers so now I'm not so sure.

I found out this morning that I will be losing half my job next year and strangely enough, I'm actually really happy about it.  I've been tossing up for awhile whether to resign or to carry on but now the decision has been made for me.  I'm not sure what I'll do with all of my new spare time but gardening and riding my horse more do spring to mind.

Thanks JJ and Lauren.

Yes, I daresay sandfly bites will be child's play after this lot.

Although driving me insane, it's still a million miles better than the pain I've had so I shouldn't complain really.

I'm hoping once I get off the Doxepin/Carbamazepine and onto the full dose of Gabapentin it might help it, but time will tell, as always.

Poppy :-)

Hey Poppy

Resist scratching and try ice to numb it and alter the itchy sensation!

It would have to be 3+ years ago when my itchies first appeared, i have 2 splotches on my face, one is part of the upper eyelid and continues onto the side of my nose and the other one is below the cheek bone. When if 'first' happened it drove me insane because i made the mistake of scratching and scratching and scratching none stop for days, I eventually broke the skin and they got infected.....

Parts of my face unevenly swelled up with the infection and i looked as bad as I felt lol thankfully that bit was only a few days but the itching didn't stop for a long long time. It was relentless itching, hard to fall asleep but it would even waking me up and it went on for around 6 months. I honestly tried everything my doctor threw at it and nothing helped as much as not giving in to the sensation, no touching at all and simple ice to numb it, when it was impossible to ignore.

The eye/nose one, when it comes back its a numb splotch now and I still don't touch it........lesson learned!

I think it may have been me who you are referring to that mentioned horrific itching. I was having it on the right side of my stomach/waist/back. Unfortunately I never did find a remedy and thankfully it went away after two weeks. I hope you get some relief soon :/
