Please see a doctor. When vision changes dramatically like you mention here, you should be seen.
I urge you, as Jens, and Corina have to get this looked at.

Macular degeneration can cause lines to look warped. It can be cause from nerve damage, age, or some medications such as plaquinel.
When I was on plaquinel, my doctor gave me a chart to look at to check for damage. If any of the line's were distorted I was to report it.

Definitely something I would get looked at.

Have you experienced any color difference between the two eyes? Do colors look washed out or stronger in one eye?
The problem you describe is common with optic nerve damage, which can have several causes. Or it may be something else entirely - I would definitely follow up with your PCP.
