at a loss

Hi everyone. I have been having muscle weakness for about a year. My legs feel like they do when you have the flu. Recently I have  experienced dizziness, loss of balance, trouble with my vision(looking at objects moving fast makes me nauseaiated), memory problems. I have trouble carrying things or walking up stairs. Some times I feel like I am shaking all over. I cant even get off the couch some days. I have seen four doctors already. They make me feel like their is nothing wrong with me. I have a MRI sceduled next week. If anyone has any suggestions, I would love to hear them.

push for a spinal MRI and an LP.  You have to make noise and take the initiative.  If the neuro won't order the tests, go to another neuro.  I actually worked the phones between my neuro and the NIA (the National Imaging Association, who have to authorize all MRI's for Blue Cross) to make it move faster.  I'd call every day to see if they had authorized it.  I bought chocolate for the doctor's office and told them thank you for tolerating me, but the bottom line is that you have to be your own advocate.  Nobody cares for your health as much as you do, so be proactive.  You need to ask for a spinal MRI and an LP--the information rendered by those tests will give you a much clearer picture (but not necessarily crystal clear).  :)

Good luck!

Make sure you get back with us after you have your MRI, to let us know what was found.  Perhaps we will be able to offer you some more information after that test is completed.

Best Wishes, Heather
