Pushing sensation in shoulders and arms

I am a 50 year old male in good health. All of a sudden I will get a sensation in my shoulders and down both arms that feels like it is a sensation of "pushing down" will last for 30 seconds and then my arms are exhausted for an hour. It is not a painful feeling, more like a burning warm feeling when it happens. It has happened a few times this past week. Want to get a clue what it might be and also see what type of Dr. I should visit and how this may be diagnosed. Other than this sensation there are no other symptoms - I am in perfectly good health.

I am having the same issues!  I actually had 2 episodes today. I'm kind of freaked out. Saw my doc earlier this week. Did blood work and waiting results. She thinks its stress related/panic attack. I don't think so. It leaves my arms listless and weak feeling. super unsettling. I'd love to know what others have learned.

My symptoms 100%. Warm feeling in my neck and shoulder area followed by super heavy arms and sudden weakness. Lasts about a minute with no other symptoms. No pain, no blurriness or such as others have had. Simple heavy arms and weakness. Have had 3 times over as many years. Scary as hell. I made a posting on here a few years back you would enjoy reading. I'm not sure how to find it though. I follow the medical reports when they appear and what we share  is identical. After the weakness subsides in a few minutes I'm good to go. It's so straI haven't been to a Doctor because so many others report the identical story with Doctor's putting their hands in the air after blood tests etc..
It's not debilitating, painful or consistent so I live with it. I've  wondered about a chemical in food we have all eaten or is it our spines or back. I haven't had any symptoms this year yet so how could it be neck or back? But I have had heavy arms several months apart now nothing. So weird but I don't believe it's anything to lose sleep over, trust me if we share the same thing it passes and if I was driving I believe I could pull over. Luckily I have been  in the house doing activities. I'm 60 now and symptoms started about 4 years ago with a total of 3 occurances. Good luck and remember one thing,  your not losing your mind and your not alone.

This has happened to me on several occasions. It started about 7 years ago I think. A heavy weight like someone pushing down hard on my shoulders and my arms going really weak that I could barely lift them. lasting only minutes but really scary at the time. Happens at random times too, at home cooking food, at work. Last year I had a few problems and went to my GP. In the lift on the way to GP it happened again but this time it carried on through my body to my legs. I could barely walk my legs were like jelly. Have been told it is some kind of panic/ anxiety attack/stress related episode. Seems logical as 7 years ago I was getting married, at the GP I was unwell. I have been quite stressed the past few months and this evening it happened again! It freaks me out when it happens but I try not to panic and let it flow, I know it will pass in a few minutes. Pretty damn weird though. I'm female 45.

I have degenerative disc disease in my neck. Once in a while it starts pinching a nerve which causes a fairly consistent sharp burning in my neck and/or shoulder blade with tingling down my arm.  The pinched nerve is currently rearing its ugly head (after 2 years of relief).  This time (within the last hour) I felt something I have not felt before and that is the sensation of someone pushing down on my shoulders.  I was standing at the time.  It was very scary.  I believe it has something to do with degenerative changes in the spine [and the pinching of nerves] as the MD above suggested.  I am going to make an appt to have updated xrays or mri done to see what's changes have occurred within the last 2 years. I am only in my 50's.  It's disturbing to think this disease will only get worse over the next 25 years of my life.

Hello Dear,
You should see a neurologist  and get all neurological investigations done to evaluate the cause. It could be due to degenerative changes in the spine.Unless a complete examination is done the diagnosis and correct treatment cannot be started.
