help! chronic sinusitis-swollen lymph glands?

I am 21 years old and have been trying to cope with sinus issues for most of my life. When I was younger I was always told I would probably grow out of it. It seems as time has gone on it has spiraled out of control. I am constantly on antibiotics to treat my sinus infections, which has in turn severely weakened my immune system. I have also recently been dealing with severe stomach pains and issues, (usually in the morning) which I would guess has a fair amount to do with the constant use of the antibiotics. I have seen many doctors including specialists. I have had sinus surgery twice as well. None the less, this constant battle to be healthy has not helped my mental status. I am always feeling tired or “under the weather” The last five months or so are what I have been concerned with the most however. The lymph node on the left side of my neck has been swollen for about five months to the size of a kidney bean (slightly larger) I have been patient for long enough I feel while the doctor told me to wait it out. Lately all of the lymph nodes on my neck have been swollen now. I want to know now what is going on and if I can feel better like ever? Also if the swollen nodes are maybe directly related to my sinus issues or something else? Please help thanks

Hello Dear,
The enlargement of the lymph glands is due to the sinus problem. You should consult a surgeon and get them examined..You should do yoga and breathing exercises for thisi will help you. Also alternative medicines like homoeopathy would be helpful a s constant use of antibiotics weakens the body.
Best

Thanks for taking time to help. So you don't think it's weird that a lot of the glands are swollen even though I'm not really sick with a sinus infection right now?

Hi PhotoGirl

I also have had Chronic Sinus problems for too many  years, & 3 lots of surgery, more recent;y the diagnosis is "Chronic Sinus Disease", which doesn't really mean that much other than regular check ups with an ENT specialist.

You say Doctor, is this an ENT specialist??, & if not, I suggest you insist on a referal to see one, as they are the ones that will have a better insight into whats going on with your Sinuses.

There are other conditions which can affect or mimic sinus problems, something I'm only recently finding out about, one been Cluster Headaches, which often starts with stuffiness & swelling around sinuses & eyes, & the headache is very severe, & similar to Sinus headache, but Sinus headache will get worse of you bend over & hang your head, cluster won't, I now have DX for this too, & my ENT specialist said its amazing how easy it is missed, & confused with Sinus problems...I now have Sumiptripan to take on first signs of an attack, & it works well, Oxygen also works well, if you can get that prescribed.

I currently am also going through more tests, as looks like I also have a Thyroid disorder..........& again, I was surprised to find that a lot of the symptoms to that, also mimic Sinus disease, in that it can cause stuffiness, swelling in face eyes etc, & of course the exhaustion you mention

I agree that your stomach is likely down to too many antibiotics, , & you might want to look into systemic Candida, as this can be caused by too many antibiotic, but depends where you are in the world, as to whether or not its taken seriously medically

I personally find Cats Claw (herb) has been fantastic at sorting out IBS problems caused by antibiotics, & now always start taking 3 times a day, just before the end of my antibiotics, & it aviods stomach problems.......but took continuosly for several months in the beginning.

Also, A Neti Douche (tepid water, with a tsp of Salt & Baking soda) is a God Send with Sinus disease, really cuts down the rate of true infection, but I now use "NeilMed Sinus Rinse" which is a special bottle, & is much easier than a neti pot............ also, I once read of someone with chronic sinus infections curing it with a diluted "vinegar douche" .......this is pretty dratisc, as it is uncomfortable & burns a little, for a short while, but having done it, it really does help stop infections if you can feel or taste one coming on.

Also look up, "Histamine Rich Foods"  just in case its allergy related, you can help yourself a lot, by cutting down foods on this list if exposed to other allergens, such as pollen......turned out my trigger was tomatoes,

good Luck
