Folks, my wife drinks diet Coke every day, and she's lost a lot of weight. Now I know that's just anecdotal, but diet coke doesn't cause weight gain. But the chemicals in it will harm you. Artificial sweeteners are more harmful than sugar to your health, but they do reduce weight gain. They do have fewer calories and do metabolize into sugar less once ingested. But I wouldn't consume it for health reasons. Weight isn't the only component of good health, and nobody needs to drink diet soda to lose weight.
Look up aspertame research on YouTube. That will answer your question thoroughly =)
I meant - the chemicals in diet coke will MaKE U GAiN weight -
The chemicals in diet coke can contribute to weight lose the sugar high and crash alone will make u crave carbs and more sweets give up all sodas drink more green tea and water coffee... Say always from GMOs and chemicals in food and u will see the weight just melt away :)
Water retention and bloating aren't weight gain -- they go away when you urinate. You're right it's best to avoid this problem, but it won't prevent long-term weight loss.
You should cut out fizzy drinks altogether. Every now and then I drink Fanta at restaurants but I can't drink coke anymore it's just tastes awful now.
The sweeteners have some toxicity, but this is related to the amount ingested. In moderation, as a substitute for other beverages, there is probably no harm in a drink now and again. The downside is that it is difficult to only satisfy yourself with a "little bit". If diet coke prevents you from consuming a comparable sugar beverage it will assist in weight loss.
Any carbonated drink causes bloating and if it is high in sodium that causes water retention. Yes it does affect weight loss.
No. It might kill you, it might destroy the plaque in your teeth, and all that, but it won't stop weight loss.
