12 year old hip enfussion

by weezee708, May 19, 2008 11:22AM
my 12 year old daughter has a broken hip and the surgeon that preformed her surgery put a screw in her hip but it came out she was then taken to indy to a ped- ortho and his advise was to remove the screw . he said the femur head was shattered and basically no hope she is in constant pain and take an excessive amounts of pain meds the dr. gave me 2 options: 1. total hip replacement or 2: a hip enfussion right now i'm so undecided because i don't know really what best for her i don't to much about this procedure but i guess i want whats best for my daughter shes gone through so much trying to get this back to the way it use to be. what would be the thing for her at this time i was reading that in 20 years or so that it would have to be done again. but shes only 12 and this happened a year ago shes over medicated, depressed, not doing what kids do at 12.
