5th metatarsal

5th metatarsal

I recently sprained my ankle at work. I went to the ER and showed that I have a small nodisplaced avulsion at the base of the 5th metatarsal. I also fell and had fractured the same foot 2 1/2 years ago. In that time I wore the walking cast for 8 weeks. I was out of the state amd my insurance would not pay for me to be seen. I was out of state for months following the death of our grandchild. Could this be the same injury? I am asking because of workman comp.
I have never had to deal with them. I hope I never will in the furture. Please let me know. I would like some warning that this could be that they would deny this claim. I did sprain my angle don't know with the small avulsion.

Thanks
Anna Todd

hi buddy,
actually a small fracture at that level is best treated with a walking cast. But in your case, it's a little sensitive. Don't worry. take rest. once the inflamation (inflammation) settles,  all will be OK.
SO relax and just don't let the swelling get over you, otherwise healing will take more time.
