Chipped bone in ankle what should the treatment be?

My daughter is 8 and chipped a bone in her ankle after twisting it. I took her to the hospital where an x ray confirmed the chip, but nothing was done. Her ankle, foot and leg were hugely swollen and even now after 6 days she is struggling to walk and her foot is still swollen.
I am unsure whether to take her back and get her foot re x rayed or just leave it longer. Any help would be great Thanks

If nothing was done it is likely to be a minor injury and conservative management is best suggested for such situations. I would advise resting the foot for a few days and avoid putting weight on it. You could also use a crepe bandage to limit mobility. Ice-packs and tylenol/ NSAIDS may be used to relieve the swelling and discomfort. Keeping the limb elevated may also be helpful to relieve the swelling.
