Flying, DVT and crack in tibia

I broke my tibia and fibula five months ago. My tibia is healed on three out of four sides. I have an IM nail in it. My fibula is healed. I am overweight and over 50. My leg swells forming a hard ridge round the fracture site which I have been told is not a callus. Am I okay to fly long haul now? e.g. to US east coast and back from UK? if not am I okay to fly England to Republic of Ireland?

Hi there!

There is no additional risk in flying than in general population due to a surgery 5 months back, unless specified by your treating doctor.. Just take care to stretch your legs frequently and take small walks inside the plane at regular intervals.
Hope this is helpful.

Take care!
