Frozen Shoulder pain

Hi there,
My husband has had pain in his right shoulder for over 6 months. He went to a physiotherapist that tried to loosen his shoulder, try to give him his range of motion back. It helped a bit but not enough. His pain is on top. His doctor has referred him to the orthopedic at our Hospital in Hull, Quebec.  But they are so back logged we are still waiting for an appointment. First I was wondering will his shoulder get worse waiting for the appointment and what do you think it is?  The physiotherapist thought it was frozen shoulder.  What can you do about it.  What do orthopedics do about it too.

I aslo have a problem of my own, I was walking and I had a cramp in my knee so I straightend it, so it made a cracking sound.  Then I had trouble walking for a few days.  It healed, a few weeks later. I was going down the stairs and my knee had a sharp pain, then had trouble walking for a few days again. What causes this? And what should I do about it?

Well, without a physical examination and probably a few tests, it would be difficult to point out the cause of shoulder pain. Possible causes may include fractures, dislocations, injuries and tears, arthritis, bursitis, tendonitis, capsulitis, nerve impingement, referred pain etc. It would be best to get this evaluated by an orthopedician, which may include a complete physical examination and a few tests like blood tests, imaging studies such as x-rays/ MRI etc. After a cause is diagnosed, it can be managed accordingly.

Also for your knee discomfort, it would not be possible to point out a cause without an evaluation and I would suggest consulting an orthopedician for this as well. Possibilities may include muscle strain, injuries, arthritis, nerve impingement, loose bodies, inflammations etc. Management again would depend on the cause diagnosed.
