Hello, I recently cracked my toe nail about 70% down the nail and it is attached by like 5% of the nail at the end. I am wondering if i should cut it off, leave it or what? Also i was wondering how i would prevent this from becoming ingrown?
You should trim your nail it to the nearest attached area. Do not pull it and avoid ripping it off.
Apply antiseptic regularly and make sure you leave the area open for proper healing. Wear slip-ons for few days and avoid tight boots or shoes. If you have to wear proper shoes or boots then you have to apply povidone iodine dressing and then wear your footwear.
If you have any infection then you would need antibiotics and if the healing is poor then go for an examination and consider nail bed repair.
