curved twisted spine

curved twisted spine

I had to get a ct scan for abdominal pain.  A few years ago before surgery i had a ct scan and noticed then that my back is really curved (lower back).  Just had another ct scan yesterday.  It also showed a twisted, curved lower spine.  Could I have scoliosis and not known all these years?  I have lost 1/2" in height over the years but I am only 47 so I'm thinking that's not totally normal.  i can say the only back pain I have is really just my right hip.  Years ago my doctor told me I had arthiritis in my hip.  Is scoliosis possible?  not sure that it's causing any problems just wondering.  I have too many other health issues to worry about it, I'm just curious.

Hello!

Curvature of the spine will have a natural bend and angle and you have to check with your orthopedician the bend you are referring to as scoliosis or if it is normal.

If you have scoliosis then in majority of conditions you will be symptom free till the dextro or levo scoliosis increases by considerable angle.

Treatment is more of cosmetic and required only if complications for cramping of space in your chest cavity arise.

You can consider wearing a brace.

Take care!
