Hi,
Thanks for writing in. Damage to the meniscus can be traumatic or degenerative. Degenerative damage is a consequence of chronic damage and degenerative process like arthritis in the knee. These changes in the posterior horn of the medial meniscus indicate damage in the posterior part of the knee and horizontal cleavage of the meniscus, this usually occurs in old individuals. Myxoid degeneration is a type of degeneration where connective tissue is substituted with a gelatinous substance.

Treatment of this condition depends upon the severity of damage, age of the patient and financial constraints. Consult a orthopedician for further assistance.
Best.
