osteoporosis and pregnancy

Hi! I have scoliosis since i was 14 and i was diagnosed with osteoporosis nearly ten years ago. I was 30 this month, we are trying for a baby. Do you know how can my condition affect my pregnancy?

Hi there!

Neither the scoliosis not osteoporosis would directly affect the pregnancy or the baby unless associated with secondary issues such as hormonal/ endocrine imbalance, electrolyte abnormalities etc. However with pregnancy, the conditions may be affected and pressure from the uterus may cause increased symptoms. I would suggest discussing the situation and the pros and cons well in detail with your treating doctor.
Hope this is helpful.

Take care!
