Welcome to the community. A cyst over 7cm or so puts one at risk for ovarian torsion which can choke off blood supply to the ovary causing it to die. It can also be quite painful. If surgery is needed, it is best to have just the cyst removed (as long as it is benign as most are) to preserve fertility and the life-long functions of the ovary. Unfortunately, not all surgeons have good cystectomy skills so it is not uncommon for women to lose ovaries unnecessarily.
Best of luck in getting proper treatment for your daughter. Please keep us posted.
NO MAM
No matter the age this could not end well. At the very least your ob should laproscipily remove the cyst and leave the ovary
I'm assuming she has her period now?
I am no stranger to cyst and one that size is very painful!!' She should be give pain meds and anti inflammatory. Meds.
If it were to rupture it could create much bigger problems. A growth that quickly needs a second or third opinion. She does NOT need to be in that kind of pain
