Any update on this? I am having the same issues.
Sorry you are dealing with this! MOST ovarian cysts are benign including ones that look suspicious. If you do not have a genetic predisposition for ovarian cancer then your lifetime chances of getting it are very slim (less than 2%).
I had a similar cyst although mine was larger - 9.5cm. It had some solid matter and some septations. Characteristics that are concerning are thick walls, thick septations, solid components, "finger-like" projections, ascites. But again, even cysts that look suspicious are usually benign.
Endometrial polyps are almost always benign too but they can cause abnormal bleeding. They can be easily "snipped off" if they are causing symptoms.
I thought complex cysts did not go away on their own but I have read of cases where they have but that is probably rare.
I ended up being over-treated and harmed. My gynecologist should have just removed the cyst (or the one ovary) and then sewed me back up when the frozen section biopsy came back benign. But instead he continued removing parts (other ovary, both tubes, and uterus).
Removing just the cysts (cystectomy) is preferable so as not to compromise ovarian hormone production (regardless of whether or not fertility is desired). The ovaries and uterus have lifelong, non-reproductive functions (anatomical, skeletal, hormonal, and sexual). And with the possibility of cancer (even though it is likely very small), a gynecologic oncologist would be your best bet.
Hope this helps! Please keep us posted.
