Hey all,
I am 27 years old and have a history of a laparotomy removing part of my Right ovary and the dermoid associated with it (2 1/2 years ago), and then a laparoscopic appendectomy one year later... AND now it was found that I have a second large dermoid (now on the Left) and located behind my uterus, along with a large 'complex' cyst on the Right. The dermoid on the right is pressing on my colon and pushing it toward the Right (not comfortable I tell ya!) and has fused with the complex cyst on the Right. Causing escalating pain over the past 2 months. Now that you have a brief history, I have a couple of questions... I thought dermoids were supposed to be extremely 'slow growers' so shouldn't it have been noticed during the last two surgeries I had within 2 years? And I know with scarring due to the other two surgeries that I will most likely have to have a laparotomy to remove the current cysts, but was wondering if the recovery time would be hampered due to the additional scarring that will form. Anyone have any experience in this area? thank you for any help that comes my way!
