3cm Complex Ovarian Cyst

I am a 41 year woman who just diagnosed with a 3cm complex ovarian cyst. My initial blood work came back great, but the doctor was now recommended a C125 antigen test as a precaution. He has referred me to a OB/GYN who I will see next week when the tests results  come back.  My pelvic ultrasound was normal, but the complex cyst was visualized on trans vag. I am in an absolute panic.

The ER doctor told me that they go away on their own and not to worry. I was advised to take Ibuprofen for pain.

Any advice????

I wish your poll had a "wait for gyn appt" box and then I would check it.  A complex cyst under 5cm is usually monitored to see if it is growing.  Doctors usually recommend surgical removal when it reaches 5cm or greater, but sometimes they opt to remove them sooner depending on your test findigs. A MRI or CT scan will give you a better idea of the contents of the cyst.  I know it is very hard to wait!  It is not helpful that most internet searches come up with cancer when you search "complex cysts."  But, the majority of complex cysts still do turn out to be benign.  Definitely take your ibuprofen if you are in pain and try not to worry.  Wishing you a benign outcome!  Keep us posted.
