Yes, that's a good idea; see another doctor. She should have told you more about future steps that she would take. Another ultrasound should obviously by one of them. Make sure you do that so that you can see if the birth control is indeed doing its job. Good luck.
Thank you very much for your help! My doctors haven't told me anything about the cyst at all just that it started at about 4cm and has since grown to 6cm. Originally the urgent care dr. said it would go away within three day--- obviously thats not the case! My guess is it is simple or they would have been more proactive? Also when I went to see an ob/gyn a couple weeks after the us showing the 6cm cyst she proceeded to tell me she doesn't do surgery unless it is larger than 9cm and didn't even order another us. Obviously I am going to see another doctor in 2 weeks and hopefully she can order an us.
Thank you!
Birth control is often used to help regulate your period, therefore shrinking the cyst. Your cyst is already pretty big though and my doctor told me that he likes to surgically remove anything over 5cm. Is your cyst functional or complex? Has the doctor told you anything about it? If he'snot too concerend, it's probably a regular fluid filled cyst. If you're concerened and want a second opinion, it doesn't hurt to see another doctor. Your cyst should be monitored closely to see if the birth control pills are helping it. It grew 2 cm in two weeks so ask if they can schedule for an ultrasound again soon. Good luck.
