Cyst or endo or what???

Hey everyone,
I will try and keep this brief, but I have quite a lengthy history.
In Jan. 2010 I had surgery to remove a 4 cm complex cyst on my right side. I had a ton of pain, constipation the whole 9 yards.
In Apr. 2010 I had another surgery to remove a (thought to be complex again) simple 6 cm cyst on my right side.
With the last surgery I had my gyno remove my Mirena IUD, thinking that was causing my cysts. I tried Depo, and will NEVER do that again. And if I do, my husband will divorce me.
Now in July of 2010 I was diagnosed with another 3cm cyst, but this time on my right side. I have been in a ton of pain, nauseous, constipation, everything. Just doubled over in pain, and I have 2 small kids (7yo boy, and a 22 mo girl) and I am not a very good mom like that.
Went to the dr. 2 weeks ago for repeat ultrasound and it seems as though the cyst resolved yet I still have quite a bit of pain. Not continuous, but when it gets bad, I can't function. I have to lay down curled up in the fetal position. I don't know if sex hurts (it did BAD the last time we tried 4 wks ago) and I still have not had a period due to the fact I had the mirena for 1 1/2 years and then tried Depo. So I don't know if my periods are heavy. I never had a period while I had the Mirena in for over a year.
I don't remember my Dr. saying I had Endo with my last surgery, but is it possible that could be causing my pain?
I go in tomorrow to have the paraguard put in, and for a repeat ultrasound. I am scared though that my gyno won't believe that I still have pain if she can't see something on the ultrasound..

Shelly,
Thanks for the reply. I actually went to the Dr. today to have the Paraguard put in. I am not a candidate for BC pills due to my pregnancy induced hypertension that never left me. My gyno did a repeat ultrasound and it showed that I have another 4.5 hemorrhagic cyst on my right ovary. Grr.... Gonna try and play the wait and see game, but since this is the ovary that I have had 2 surgeries just this past year for, she is doubtful this will resolve on it's own. More than likely she would also remove the R ovary, and she wants to talk about a possible hysterectomy since we are done having children.
I guess the good news is at least I know I am not crazy and there is a cause of all my pain. I am just at my wits end, having to deal with this all the time. It's not a very good quality of life for me, or my family.

I'm so sorry to hear about your pain.  It is frustrating to know something is wrong and not have it show up on tests.  However, endometriosis or even adhesions from the surgeries can cause great pain and won't show up on the scans.   Hormones cause endo to grow and this can cause a lot of pain.

To me, it sounds as though the bc methods are affecting you negatively.   Are you on bc now?   You may want to stick to daily bc pills so you can change types if you experience negative symptoms.  Your ultrasound will show if you have a cyst.   Although it is less convenient, sometimes, taking a break from hormonal methods of bc can help your body get back to normal.  Hopefully, your doctor will have some recommendations after your scan.

Take care,

Shelly
