Bloating for 4+ Months???

Hey, ladies!  I've been reading through these posts for days now, and I have to tell you...I am relieved to hear of other women's stories.  I had been experiencing typical symptoms of a cyst, thought they were gastrointestinal and saw my family doc in June.  Ultrasound showed small simple cyst.  No biggy, no worries.  Symptoms persisted and got worse, especially the bloating (I look 4,5 months preggers all the time).  After a shift at my hospital, I headed to the E.R. due to the pain but mostly because I was tired of being uncomfortable all the time.  U/S showed a complex cyst in the same spot but bigger.  This was a week ago.  Bloating all the time now.  At first it was up and down but now it is sticking around.  MRI last Thursday and no call yet (guessing this is good news).  I am being scoped tomorrow.  Cyst measures 3cm, which I know is still not too big.  My OB is still convinced I have IBS.  He is a jerk.  I have had almost no change in bowel movements, and I am down a few pounds in weight.

Anyway, sorry to ramble on.  But, have any of you bloated for so long with just a small cyst?

Thanks!!!

Jessie

Update......ultrasound done this week, but we think it was at the beginning of ovulation. Therefore, i have to get another one, right at the end of a period to determined whether my uterine wall is thick or if the cyst goes away and comes back with ovulation.

She tried to push meds for IBS but I refused. IBS may explain cramping/bloating, but not spotty periods. Aside from that, i have no other IBS symptoms and i am not taking a med just to mask my symptoms.

One other thing, i was feeling very tired with all this and have no libido, she discovered I have B12 deficiency.

Now I wait for another period.....

Hi, so sorry to hear of your frustrations also. It is so tiring to try to explain that we know our bodies best and that it is not a GI thing!! I have pain/pressure on my pelvic floor and look pregnant everyday now!! I just don't know where to turn now!! Good luck and keep us informed!

I am with you girls too!

For months I had these symptoms before finally having my first UW in early August, which showed a complex small cyst on my right ovary, and my CT scan a week showed the cyst doubled in size and there are tiny clusters on my left. Bloating is constant and have pretty much the same symptoms as both of you.

Met with my GYN the first time a week or so ago and she and my family doctor both insist the cysts are too small to cause these symptoms. Meanwhile, I still feel pregnant, look pregnant, and I feel like I am going to start my period all the time (the crampy feeling).

GYN put me on progesterone temporarily (10 mg at night for 10 days) to force me to have a period at a somewhat predictable timeframe. The med seems to make my symptoms worse and I feel like I am going to cry or kill someone at any given moment - LOL! Anyway, once my period starts, 7 days later I am supposed to get my second US and then we go from there (laproscopy or D & C or who knows what else).

I've been dealing with this for months now and they too suggest gastro issues which I refuse to give in to. I allowed a colonoscopy when it first started happening but that's it. If this GYN continues to avoid the cyst issue or can't figure it out, I am switching.

Next week should be my next US and then after that I'll meet with the GYN again. I'll let you know what I find out!

Hi,
Are you by any chance a nurse? OMG your story is just like mine!! I am 47 year old RN who has had bloating in lower abd for 7 months. I have had 4 US at my persistance. In March US showed simple cysts on each ovary so in May when sx continued I went to Gyn NP who reluctantly did US #2 and it showed "probable resolving cysts". So bloating continues to get worse, full with small amounts of food, no appetite. In July I went back to my reg doctor who ordered 3rd US and this time it had 2.6cm complex cyst on right ovary so he sent me to Gyn doctor. I made an appt with the guy who had taken my uterus out 2 yr ago-he looked at me like I was crazy for being there and said everything is GI related even tho I had done colonoscopy, gastric emptying study, celiac labs, and no changes in bowel habits. He told me to eat fiber and he would see me in 3 months. I got my naturopath to order another US at 8 weeks and showed a complex cyst on right ovary, but "not sure whether this is the same one or a functional cyst" was what the report said. I continue to have bloating everyday with very low pubic pelvic pain and also right lower quadrant air bubbles or fluid that makes a squishy sound. My labs all are normal including to CA-125 so I am stuck on who to follow up with because something is wrong with me I can feel it! I need to keep being persistant, but it is so tiring! Hang in there and be persistant-they always want to say IBS. I have tried so many expensive things from my naturopath that make no difference at all on the bloating so not sure what to do!
YOU are not alone sister!1
