Various questions about surgery, recovery, etc.

In the beginning of March '10, I was diagnosed with a solid mass growing on my right ovary, approx. 12cm. Today at my pre-surgery visit, my doctor told me that my abnormal bleeding may not be caused by my mass...so she did a biopsy of my uterus. It was very painful, I couldn't believe it. Has anyone else had this exact situation? (meaning the abnormal bleeding and being told that it is not caused by the mass growing on the ovary)

My surgery is on Nov. 16th, 2010. My doc told me I'd be in the hospital until the 19th. I'm curious about the level of pain, and how fast your recovery was. I'm very anxious and beyond stressed. My blood pressure is through the roof. Today is was 147/92. Last week it was 164/86. I believe it's from stress, because I am only 22.

I am happy this is finally going to be free of my body, but I'm very worried about my recovery period. Also, I have yet to find out if the mass is malignant or benign. I hope someone has some words of wisdom =] I really have no one to talk about this with. My Mom passed in February, and I can only tell my Dad so much =] THANKS EVERYONE!

Take care ladies!

I am fine now. Better than I was before surgery. It was worth it. Thank you for asking. I documented my surgical experience because doctors are so busy, they do not give all the details...yet any intelligent woman WANTS the details. Fear of the unknown is far worse than getting an honest rundown of what they are going to do to you. I wish doctors understood this better!

Thank you so much, I feel alot better now after reading your surgery story. Makes me feel much more calm about everything. Thank you, I truly appreciate it.

How about yourself? How is your medical condition now?

You'll be on strong pain medicine immediately after surgery, but you will still be somewhat aware of the soreness...but it is subdued enough by the medicine that it is tolerable.

My whole surgery story is in my profile. I am older than you, but the surgery experience likely will be very similar. Doctors typically recommend patients to stay home 6 weeks before returning to work, school, etc.
