Complex Cyst Hysteria

I was in a car accident and had a neck and lower back injury, They did a MRI of my lumbar and low and behold they wrote on the report there is a small cyst noted with in the right adnexa? measuring 3cm most likely related to the matruing ovarian follicle. clinical correlation is recommended.  Well I freaked.  I had a partial hysterectomy when I was 28 years old after having 5 wonderful kids.  I went to see my family doc who has a bedside manner similar to the actor who plays "House" (medical show on tv).  She sent me to have an vaginal ultrasound done.  They found a complex cyst in the right ovary measuring approximately 1.6cm in its greatest diameter (1.6x1.4x1.5 complex) smaller than the first one found on the MRI.... The report goes on to say there are normal follicles in the left ovary, the largest measuring 0.6cm in diameter.  Then comes the part that the doctor with her wonderful bedside manner made me freak out even more over.  Contiguous with the left ovary, there is a loculated cystic area measuring approximately 2.5cm in the greatest diameter that may represent a left ovarian cyst or may represent loculated fluid not related to the left ovary...WHAT?  Ok I asked what it could be she kept saying I don't know then ran down a list of infection something we need to find out right away then walked out of the room.  I can't tell you how much I hate tricare prime (retired millitary insurance) the doctors you get are limited and not really warm and fuzzy.
They are sending me for another MRI monday.  I have done searched the internet for a diagnosis.. I don't wait well! I have killed myself over and over with every possible could be there is on the net until I have made myself sick.  My eyes are half swollen shut from tears and low and behold I found this site and started to read through it.  It has eased some anxiety the tears still fall.  I lost a mother to adenocarcinoma.. hers seemed to appear in her lungs and took over her entire body and for 4 years she fought but it was just to painful for her to hold on.  I think the worst part of the whole thing was being orphaned at 33 years of age.  Having kids grow up with out their grandmother was hard.  Anyway,...  My fear is the complex cyst.  everyone here talks about details and cores and all that stuff and this just says complex?  what is it?  The other on the left could be a fluid filled cyst or loculated fluid in the area?  Dr said maybe infection.  I don't have a uterus how does it get up there to get infected?  when you ovulate where does that fluid go when you don't have a uterus?  could that be the fluid they are seeing?   Ok I have rattled on and have probubly made you all nuts just reading this.  Any info would be much appreciated.  My neck injury is getting much worse from the stress, as are my eyes.

Take a really deep breath !!! No need to panic...Everyone here has had cysts of some type or another. I'm sorry your Dr. didn't take a little more time explaining that these cysts are very , very common and many times simply resolve on their own. Many times we have cysts and aren't even aware of it. Complex by the way only means it has fluid and possible solids. It doesn't mean malignant.

If these cysts don't resolve themselves on their own, they may decide to do a simple procedure called a Laparoscopy, which lots of us have had. Outpatient and not bad at all. However, let's not even go there yet..Write down all of your questions, Check out the Health Pages at the top right of this page, and calm yourself. I'm sure you'll feel much better after you've had some of your questions answered.

And keep in touch after your appt..
Take care,
Sandy

Thank You, It has helped reading and going through things here. I am trying to keep things together I have 5 kids ages 12,13,15,17,21 and it is hard trying not to show any emotion around them. They don't need my stress brushing off on them as my 17 year old has to take her SAT's in a couple weeks.  I am all they have and I don't have time to be sick injured or scared.  Especially this time of year.  Just don't know how to suck it back at times.

Again thank You!

First I want to tell you to calm down, it may help you to know that most ovarian cysts are benign..95%... and your cysts are small too. Doctors can make you crazy but it's good that you're having this testing done to find out exactly what kind of cyst it is and to make a determination on what they'll do about it. Fluid filled functional cysts can resolve on their own too.
In the meantime, there is a lot of information about different types of cysts on the main page of the cyst forum in the Health pages on the upper right side of the page. Just click on the Heath pages and scroll to the cyst information posts.. it will help you get a better perspective about it all.
Loculated just means it has chambers or walls inside the cyst, this can happen in complex cysts.. and as I said yours is small. The functional cysts are normal, they occur during ovulation. Even if you've had a hysterectomy you still will ovulate as that's what the ovaries do every month as long as you have estrogen and aren't menopausal.
Sorry the doctor didn't give you better information but some of them are so pressed for time these days they don't bother to explain everything we need them to, that's why it's good to learn about it and ask specific questions when you see her again.
Read the cyst information, get the MRI monday and let us know how it turns out.
