Connection or coincidence?

Not sure if my right ovary is acting up or what. My left ovary was removed last year along with the fallopian tube and a 10cm cyst. Ahhh. At the time I was having occasional zingers of sharp pain in the right side as well. After the surgery I asked my doctor if my right ovary looked OK and she said yes. I was fine with that.

Since then the occasional zing has turned into a general deep ache low down in the right side that's there almost 24 hours a day. There's no palpable mass there like I felt with the left ovary. And the last 2 days I've had a low grade fever (99.3) and the ache goes from the lower right front, up over the hip and to the lower back. Muscle maybe?

Perhaps the fever is coincidental and I have some weird little virus but have any of you had nagging fever with a cyst? I feel like I'm having a non-stop hot flash with heat radiating off of me and sweat constantly forming on my face, chest and back. And it's not the weather since it's been raining and nice.

I'm due to go in for my annual pap in October and can wait till then but I'm tired of sweating and feeling icky. (Whine, whine, whine)  irene

If you have a fever, you might have an infection.  Sometimes we don't even know we have pelvic infections and often they follow a surgical procedure.  You might just need a course of antibiotics and that will be enough.

If you are worried enough to ask us here, then you really need to see the doctor.  Sorry, but you need to find out, even if it's just nothing.

I dread calling my regular doctor. She's so quick to respond. She'd have me in there with my legs up for a TVUS in a flash. Right now the discomfort (it doesn't quite qualify as pain) is annoying. I would think a ruptured cyst, a twisted tube or even inflamed appendix would hurt much more. I wondered about appendix but since this has been going on for over a year, that would have to be one tough appendix.

October isn't that far away. If it gets bad, of course I'll call my doctor right away. I was more curious about the low grade fever, if that ever happens with a cyst.

I'll let you know if anything weird happens.  irene

You know Irene, I wouldn't wait until October I don't think. There are lots of things that could be causing this I imagine..Appendix? But there's no sense worrying about it for 2 or 3 months. I'd give the Dr. a call just for peace of mind if nothing else. Could be nothing and could be another cyst. I'd hate for it to get larger and twist or rupture..(And you're not whining..) I'd call. If it's nothing, well, that's great..

Let us know..
Take care, Sandy
