Did I have an ovarian cyst rupture?

Info about me that may be helpful: I'm 18, on birth control. Endometriosis, cysts, and general female problems affect pretty much all women on my mom's side of the family including her, and my doctor says I could have endometriosis as well. I'm nearing the end of my birth control pack, so I should have a "period" soon.

The last 2 weeks I've been getting sharp pains near my right ovary. And this week I've had these sudden, intense period-like cramps. They would last for about 15-30 seconds, and then go away. Last night, around 10, I took a laxative because I hadn't had a bowel movement in 2 days. I did use the bathroom this morning and I thought all was well. Then the cramp feelings came back, but way stronger. It felt like period cramps on steroids, like somebody had grabbed my uterus and twisted/squeezed it. About two hours later around 10:30 a.m. I had two near-excruciating cramp feelings. I went to the bathroom and I had this brownish-greenish clumpy vaginal discharge. My mom and grandmother said I had a cyst rupture (they have both had it happen several times). I felt okay after, just sore. Then I had 2 cramp feelings again, but not as strong. The first I tried to use the bathroom because I thought my stomach was upset, but I didn't go. The second time I did use the bathroom quite a bit (I guess from the laxative) and now I feel better, just still sore in my abdomen. I'm also having red/brown spotting, as well as frequent urination. So my question is: did I have a cyst rupture, or was it just the laxative, or a combination of both?

I have the same types of pain myself when my cysts rupture. It's an intense cramping and I almost always have it on my right side. There's really nothing to do about it. However I started the Adkins diet (low carbs low sugar) and I've noticed a huge difference. It might not work for everybody but I have noticed a change in how painful the cysts bursting feels. Not to mention sex is much easier for me too. Like I said it may not work for everybody but it has for me. Good luck to you!

It's hard to say. Ovarian cysts are common and it can be quite painful when they rupture. But laxatives can cause cramping too. Hopefully, this will all settle down soon. Of course, if you have endometriosis like your relatives, pelvic pain may become chronic.
