cyst after taking clomid

I was wondering if anyone knew how often cysts occur after taking clomid.  I took clomid for the first time last month (100 mg) and the follicles never matured.  I was then prescribed a medication to start my period.  Got my period 12 days after the last pill and went in today to make sure it was ok to start a higher dose of clomid (150 mg) instead I found out that I have a cyst.  My doctor may have explained all of this to me but I was pretty upset and didn't really process a lot of the information.  I had blood drawn and was told that they would call me with the results and let me know what needs to happen from here.  I would appreciate hearing others experiences as I am new to all of this.  My husband and I have been ttc for 1 year with no luck. Also, does anyone know what the likelihood of an increased dose of clomid is of working?  Thanks

My doctor informed me that cyts developing on the ovaries was a side effect of clomid.  If clomid is working, ovarian cysts may occur due to hyperstimulation of the ovaries.  I am curious as to what does you are taking.  I am presently taking 50mg.  If I am not pregnant, I will have to go in and have an ultrasound done to see if they cyts are still present and if they are... I will not be able to take clomid again.

I have read some researh on clomid relative to the dose and it states that a higher dose is not really effective.

Hang in there.  Cysts can be exteremely painful.  Good Luck.

I know what you are going to.. My DH and I are also TTCing since Apr 08 and we went to see a RE in may 09 and i found out that i have a 7cms cyst.. the next time we went to see her it was 7.5 cms so i had laproscopic surgery on sept 2 to get rid of the cyst. I think your doctor would tell you stop taking clomid cause clomid can cause cyst too and she will monitor the cyst to see if it goes away on its own

Yes, there was an ultrasound done before the clomid was prescribed and there was no cyst previously
