What is life like after surgery?

I found out that I had a large dermoid and a hermorrgraphic(sp.) cyst and I am scheduled to have a laparatomy done. I look 4 months preganant and no matter what I do I belly is still big and stiff. I want to know if after the surgery is done if my belly will reduce in size?

Rest assure that even if they do have to take your ovary, you can still get pregnant with only one ovary!!  It may take a bit longer, but it can happen.  Let us know when you find out when your surgery date is!

yes it will but not for a while,,,infact at first you will be swollen from the surgery and may have trapped gas( walk for that..only way to get rid of)

things to help reduce salt intake, drink plenty of water, a large glass before each meal.
Do NOT exercse post op until Dr says ok

Hi, and welcome.  Yes, your belly will go back to normal size after you get the cyst out (thank Goodness), but it may take a bit because of the swelling due to surgery.  When you have surgery, they fill the abdomen with air so the other organs are out of the way.  The air they inflate you with will cause some bloating too.  Once the gas is gone and the swelling goes down (about 4-6 weeks) you should be back to your normal size.  When is your surgery?
