Is it really okay to keep getting ovarian cysts?

Hi there. I'm 32 years old and about two years ago, started getting cysts on my ovaries basically anytime I was not consistent with my birth control pills or took a break. I've had three ultrasounds and every cyst has been diagnosed as functional and not a cause for alarm, however I have to wonder how long they will continue occurring? It does not seem right? BCPs do help them go away but I am trying to conceive and have just stopped the pill lastmonth and I think I already have the beginning of a cyst forming. In my case, do I just let the cysts happen and go with it? I can't keep running to the doctor every time I think I have one - it's getting ridiculous. Incidentally, I have had some abnormal hair loss (I've lost about 50% of the hair on my head) over the past two years. No doctor has been able to diagnose the cause and my gyno insists it has nothing to do with my BC pills, hormones or anything gynocologically related but I swear there most be a connection. Any advise would be great!!

That does sound frustrating but at least they are functional cysts. It sounds like you don't have any choice but to take the birth control pills if the cysts will not go away without them. You sure don't want to lose your ovary(ies). Do you maybe have Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) ? Do the cysts look like a string of pearls? Scalp hair loss is one common symptom of PCOS. Some others are excess body hair (hirsutism), oily / acne prone skin, and tendency to gain weight easily.

hello!!! In brief i think you shouldn't worry since they are functional. How big do they get? My doc says that under 3 cm they are not considered as cysts when they have only fluid and they are simple like yours. I myself have a cyst but its paraovarian and I have been examined through u/s 4 times since October even though they tell me that everything is ok.So I know how you feel. Regarding pregnancy they do dissolve on their own.
