Missed period after laparotamy?

Hi! I had a 20lb ovarian cyst removed in October 2010 and both my right ovary and Fallopian tube were removed. I had a period three days after surgery and then another very heavy painful period the next month. This month I had no period at all. I am on birth control as well. Has this happened to anyone? I'm very confused and scared. Please help!

I can't remember the exact size but it was a little over 20 pounds and was about the size of a watermelon. I'll look it up when I can.

Can I ask what were the measurements of your cyst?

I went to the gyno yesterday and had a blood test. They checked for a thyroid problem and pregnancy. I am not pregnant and my thyroid is normal. My doctor says it happens when you've been on birth control for a while, which I have been on Loestrin 24 FE for over a year. Thank you for your concern, though!

Is it possible that you are pregnant and the birth control failed?  What type of birth control are you on?  Sometimes it just takes our bodies a few months to get back to normal.  When you have a cyst that big, plus an ovary and tube removed, your body goes through a pretty big shock.  If you are not pregnant, then your body should get back in track in a few months.  You can always give your doctor a call and see what he has to say.  Please keep us informed on what is going on.
