Hi Casey,
I think maybe I'm just attributing everything to the cysts, now that I know they are there. I'm probably fighting off a sinus infection, and that's why I'm getting the fever, chills, and aches.
I'm scared of the big cyst rupturing (there's a 7.4 cm cyst on right ovary and 2.5 cm cyst on the left). I'm thinking sooner would be better than later for the surgery, since I've learned that big cysts usually don't reduce in size. I was hoping to wait until after Jan 1, 2011, but I think I want it out. Now that I am paying attention, I notice some changes.
- I'd been bleeding almost everyday, just a little, and then it stopped. It wasn't period blood, it was darker, like old blood. (That's how the PA described it.) When I had the fever, I took a break from exercising, and the bleeding stopped. That worries me. I don't know whether it was the birth control pills or the lack of exercise that caused the bleeding to stop. I am going to start exercising again this week. If the bleeding starts, I'm going to call the doctor.
- Lately, I have noticed that waistbands are feeling more uncomfortable when I sit, and it's not because I ate too much pre-Halloween candy, because I've been losing weight (on purpose). Wide belts are nearly impossible to bear.
- Certain movements or positions (like deep squats while exercising) are very uncomfortable and just feel weird, because I'm pretty sure I can actually feel the big cyst in there. I've noticed this especially when I exercise.
- I sometimes feel a burning sensation in my hip. It comes and goes throughout the day. I think that's the big cyst as well.
Many thanks for the peace of mind you folks provide with your answers and support!
Jessica
I am not sure what you are experiencing but it doesn't sound like ovarian cyst rupture. The pain from a rupture feels a lot like child birth. It is a constant pain and sometimes it also feels like contractions. It gets worse and then a little better and then worse again but the overall pain dimnishes daily. I often feel hot when I have one rupture but its from the intense pain. I never feel achy or like I have the flu.
Sounds more like the flu or other virus to me. Night sweats could also be associated with menopause. I once got freezing cold and shaky at night and discovered I was a bit dehydrated. After drinking water, the problem resolved. A rupture can occur at any time (or never) but I don' t think what you described sounds like a rupture.
