Cysts

Hello everyone.. this is my first time on here..10 years ago I had my first surgery, it was originally to go in and remove a 12cm cyst on my right ovary... turned out to be an endometrioma, while they were in there they discovered that I had a lot of them and mass amounts of scar tissue. Since then, I dont remember a month where I wouldnt have a cyst of some kind on either of my ovaries. They did tell me that I wasnt lokely to be able to have a child due to the extent of my endometriosis, which I did and I now have a 3 year old son. For the last 10 years I think I have been on every known birth control to try and control the cysts but nothing has worked. I went to the emergency room the other day for severe stomach pain.. it started just above my pubic bone and went straight to my sternum, then it radiated over both sides of my belly and into my back. With so much pressure all the way down to my rectum.. I seriously thought I was going to explode! At the hospital I had a transabdominal and endovaginal u/s and it came back with a 50x21mm complex right ovarian cyst with a fishnet appearance of hemorrhagic cyst. I was then refered to see my obgyn and she immediately suggested we do surgery again. I am kind of freaked out because 10 years ago, I was 18 without any thing to "worry" about, but now.. I have a 3 year old. What am I going to do. my surgery is scheduled for this coming week. DOes anyone have any suggestions on how to make things go easy post op?

Good luck!  They thought I had a 16 cm cyst and ended up being a grapefruit sized cluster of cysts that had bled together.  I was so happy to have the surgery and couldn't believe how much better I felt afterwards.  Good luck!

Hey thanks for that! It turns out there are more "cysts" than they thought... I just got home from my pre-op and I am feeling oddly, a little more at ease. As much as I dont want to have sugery.. to be honest, I cant wait for friday, I hope this puts a stop to my pain!
Once again, thank you!

Since it is small I imagine they are doing laporascopically unless they need to do a laparotomy because of scar tissue?  If it is lapaorscopic take a look at the posting on top 10 things I learned about laporscopic surgery for some good hints.  Many of those apply to a laporatomy but in addition for that just be very careful about not lifting your son and ensuring you get your rest.  Good luck.
