concerned

I was recently diagnosed with a very small cyst on my right and left ovaries my CA-125 was 40 the dr. did not seem to concerned but wanted me to  eturn 6-weeks later to repeat the ultrasound and CA-125 just to be safe.  I went back 6-weeks later and had another CA-125 and it was 140 and and another ultrasound which looked even better than the previous the dr. said.  But he was concerned about the CA-125 so he orded an MRI with and without contrast and it came back normal.  He repeated the CA-125 and it went to 130. He wanted me to see the gyno-oncologist for evaluation before we make any decission on a possible hsyterectomy.  Went to see the oncologist and he also said my MRI looked good but he did a ultrasound and said the same thing that I had two very small cysts one on each ovary.  He said that one appeared to have some complexity to it and recommended a laprascopic procedure to do a hysterectomy and biopsy the cysts especially the questionable one and he would also be able to see all the other organs to evaluate them.  The MRI showed no masses ,lymph problems and said all organs looked really good.  So I am scared, concerned. Theres is no cancer in my family. Has anyone had anything similar to this.  Can the cysts that has some complexity be benign?

Complex cysts can be benign, yes.  But with a rising CA-125 and being age 50, I would not leave anything to chance.  You should have the questionable cyst removed, sooner rather than later, by the gyn/onc.

Hi..i know how scary this can be... im going through it also. One good thing to think about is after 6 weeks your doctors said the cyst looks good..probably because they hadnt grown ...thats a great sign!!  Ive heard the CA125 can go up and down for many reasons..infections can make them go up..even benign cysts can make them go up. Your in good hands too!
