Should I Be Worried?

I hate to be a worry wart but I would really like anyone's opinion or reassurance.

I've posted once before and got some great advice and would appreciate anything you can give me. I have a lot of health issues right now and one problem is an ovarian cyst.

Back in May, I developed DVT (blood clots) in my left leg. I was put on blood thinners. My blood got too thin and a ovarian cyst that developed on my left ovary hemorrhaged. I had to have both the cyst and the ovary removed. In June, I developed another ovarian cyst on my right ovary. My doctors decided to "watch and wait" to see if it went away on it's own. In Sept., they repeated the ultrasound and the cyst had not gone away and had grown.

When I went to see my OB/GYN she wanted to try one last thing. Since HRTs are out of the question for me because of the blood clot issue and I'm only 35 years old, she didn't want to leave me with no hormones. She said it would be a last ditch effort to save the ovary. She could not just remove the cyst because it was too involved with the ovary and there were several cyst growing off of the ovary. She wanted to give me a shot of birth control (Deprovera). I took this option.

I haven't been feeling good and I was in a lot of pain in October and I even called their office and talked with the nurse because I was concerned about the symptoms increasing. I went in this week to see if the shot did any good. When I called today, they said that the cyst has decreased a little compared to the ultrasound in September but it appears that part of one cyst has ruptured and I have free floating fluid in my abdomen. I know when they were doing the ultrasound it hurt and the fluid ran from the corner of the pelvic to the middle.

The nurse said that the doctor hasn't seen the results yet but she would give them to her...maybe Tues. My concern,(which I did call back) is I reminded her that I am on blood thinners and if I should be concern about bleeding etc.. She said the fluid in my abdomen is from the cyst..no blood..just from the cyst. I'm still having a lot of pain from the right lower side and I know those cyst were large before it ruptured. Can the fluid cause problems? Should I be concerned? Is there any symptoms I should look out for?

Thanks for the information..

The pain is pretty bad and I do have a high pain tolerance. The bad thing is I've also had a partial hysterectomy years ago and I know from the ultrasound that the fluid was from one side of the pelvic to the middle since the uterus is gone. I hope it does go away soon. Can the fluid irritate the outside of the bladder because I've been having some pain from there and from the area where my left ovary was taken?

Thanks Again

Hi there,
Sorry you are having such a terrible time with this. Alot of cysts do rupture. They cause alot of pain and yes do cause fluid to accumulate in the cul-de-sac. This can take a few days to a week or so to absorb. It irritates the abdominal/peritoneal cavity and this is why the pain can take a couple of weeks to fully go away. I hope this helped and I hope you feel better.
