worried and discouraged

Hey there...
I have an appointment with Kaiser ob/gyn tomorrow morning, and hopefully I'll be able to make some progress on investigation and/or treatment of this complex cyst I have going on.  I'm newly with Kaiser, and although I filled out all the health questions in good faith, I really thought they wouldn't accept my application because of a pre-existing condition.  At the time, I was scheduled for an ultrasound, to determine fibroid status, but I had not yet received the results, which showed a complex ovarian cyst of 4.3 cm.  So, they may tell me to go elsewhere, or they may treat me and then charge me for it all, I suppose.  I don't really know what to expect.  I'm planning to bring the new doc my US report, so she can see what all has been reported already.
I think this cyst has grown a lot since it was first noticed on the US Jan 27; now I feel pressure all the way up in my ribcage.

Well I'm back from Kaiser, and I feel listened to and well cared for!  She scheduled me for an ultrasound - pelvic and transvaginal - for tomorrow afternoon, and seems concerned to get to the bottom of this.  From her exam she said the right ovary feels enlarged and firm, and golf ball size, and that she couldn't separately feel a cyst there. My sister had ovarian cancer in her early twenties, so that's more of a worry to me than the discomfort.  HOpefully, I won't have to pay for all this out of pocket.  I'll keep y'all posted as we investigate further.

I just want you to know that I am thinking of you today.  Preexisting conditions are a bunch of bull in my opinion.  One can not help if they have a medical condition and insurance should be made to pay no matter what.  I hope everything worked out for you today.  I am anxious to see what you found out.  Good Luck!!

With all the talk of healthcare reform, one thing I'd like to see changed is the "preexisting condition" restrictions.  Insurance companies need to be required to take you regardless of what conditions you have.  This stuff really upsets me.
