Hello: Endometrial Ablation is used as a treatment for Dsyfunctional Uterine Bleeding and fibroids. It works 70% of the time and peripausal women find a reduction in the length and amount of their bleeding. The other 30% find no relief and sometimes end up with a hysterectomy.
As I am on the doorstep of menopause and have this procedure done, my doctor will use blood work to find out when I'm truly in menopause.
I still think I will talk again with my GYN about this part. I want the cyst removed and the D&C, and am still having second thoughts about the EA.
Endometrial Ablation? Is that when they scrape off the uterine lining? I thought that was a fibroid treatment?
I am not sure what an EA is, so I will not be helpful on that part of your question. If you have concerns about having the surgery, you need to make an appointment with your doctor and talk about your fears. Do you know how big your cyst is? If the pain has stopped, maybe your cyst has ruptured. I would ask for a repeat ultrasound to see if that is the case. You doctor my want to go ahead and do the D&C to clean your uterus our after having so much bleeding. You have a lot of good questions, but unfortunately only your doctor can answer them. Please keep us posted on how you are doing.
