Slightly frustrated(vent and quick update)

So I went to see my own doctor today, I dont see the obygn until March 9th for follow up with him.

Im healing wonderfully, my doctor is extremely happy. Gave me the lecture to be more cautious now with not over doing it because now will be the time that i will risk thatt with feeling a lot better (tomorrow is 2 weeks post op). Which I agree with her, im feeling good, and im trying so hard to make sure i dont over do it.. my mom is here to kick me in the butt though to make sure so thats helping a lot.

However, she took the time to go over the results from the surgery with me.

From my understanding, and hers, the cyst had not grown at all since my last ultrasound Oct 28th. Staying at 5cm. But, that my ovary had collapsed and the wall of my ovary was approx 1mm thick. Which i guess would explain all the pain i had, and why he had to remove the whole ovary becuase the cyst just engolfed it.

What frustrates me, is that I had a 7cm cyst drained in April, and within a few months this cyst had grown in its place. I understand he had to try the laparoscopy first before jumping to laparotomy, but its so frustrating that a cyst 2cm smaller is what collapsed the ovary.

I know he told me more about it post op but i was so groggy that I cant remember. I know it couldve just been a bad ovary and there is nothing I couldve done about it. My doctor wants to get me back on BC asap so that we can hopefully prevent this happening with the left ovary as that ovary was responding to the birth control to shrink the cyst that had also developed on that ovary (i was on BC at the time, but he changed it from jsut 21 day use to 3 months consecutively before getting a period).

Im glad its out because im not in chronic pain anymore, and without my dr helping me to make it known to the obgyn that more attn was needed, we wouldnt have known it was like this.

Has anyone else dealt with a collapsed ovary?

Yeah, April 8th, 2010 was the first, after being an add on and waiting 3 days in and out of hospital to get it done. And the second one was feb 2nd, 2011. Its very frustrating that I have needed to go through 2 surgeries, but i am hoping this is the end of it! Im only 22 and do hope to be able to have kids, etc. So hopefully ill be cyst free! The sooner I get onto the birth control again the better. Thankfully at surgery my left ovary was free of cysts at that point.

I just cant wait for my hormones to regulate themselves again :( and when im cleared to start doing more. i know i over did it today for sure though! I was out doing running around for 3 hours and there was a lot of walking. oops! Lesson learned though thats for sure

I have not personally dealt with a collapsed ovary.  It is too bad you had to have two surgeries. :( But, hopefully the bc pills will help regulate your hormones and you will remain cyst free.
