What does an abnormal amount of free fluid suggest?

For the last year or so it has been very painful to have intercourse with my husband. It got to the point where I didn't want to have sex because of the pain. At first I thought it may be due to the fact that my cervix is tilted. I had a dr. tell me that his penis hitting the cervix wall could be painful.  I went today for my yearly gyno appt. I talked with her abt the problem and she ordered  a vaginal ultrasound. In this ultra sound they found an abnormal amount of free fluid. Seems like they said in the colon but can't be sure. When the probe got near the area of free fluid it caused a great amount of pain.

What causes too much free fluid and what do you do abt it?

Pain during intercourse is definately something needing attention.  I am not trying to scare you but pain during intercourse was one of the symptoms I had prior to being diagnosed with ovarian cancer.......you need to follow this up and figure out what is going on.  If your doctor is not a gyn I would suggest you see one....if she is I would push her to find out what is going on and maybe give you a referral to a gyn/oncologist.  If surgery is in your future make absolutely certain you have a gyn/oncologist perform it for you.  Be proactive when it comes to your health.  Please do let us know how you are doing.
Peace.

Fluid can sometimes be present if there is a cyst that burst and that would and could be very painful.
What follow up tests has the doctor ordered?
There are numerous reasons why there could be fluid and if it were me and I was in pain I would want to get to the bottom of it.  Have you thought about a 2nd opinion?  Are you comfortable speaking with your doctor?
I am going to suggest that you post your question on the OvCa forum...NO I DO NOT THINK THAT IT IS CANCER, just that many of those women have knowledge that goes deeper then "follicle" cysts when it comes to gynocological matters.
Good luck and please post on that side....we want to help you find answers.

I wish I knew and could offer you some answer, but I don't have experience with this.

Maybe someone will post with information... but I would certainly call the doctor back and push until you get some answers that satisfy your questions.

I wish you a good report, please let us know how you're doing!
